Welcome to Leyburn Primary School’s website.
Inspired to be the best that we can be!
Leyburn Primary School values being at the heart of the local community. We work and learn together to develop all aspects of the child, giving them the skills to be confident young people, so that they are able to play an active role as adults in modern society. The Department for Education (DfE) recognises that: “in order to help their children succeed, schools have a role to play in supporting them to be resilient and mentally healthy”. We try to make sure that our school is a place for children and their families to experience a nurturing and supportive environment which helps to develop their self-esteem and gives positive experiences for overcoming adversity and building resilience. Children are trusted and given the freedom to learn within the boundaries of what is expected from them. We aim to provide the best academic, social, moral, spiritual and cultural education possible and we expect all involved with the school to contribute to this.
In May 2017, Leyburn chose to convert to an academy, joining the multi academy trust YCAT (Yorkshire Collaborative Academy Trust) which includes Askwith Primary School, Bilton Grange Primary School, Hawes Primary School and Lothersdale Primary School. In 2023, Bradleys Both Primary School and Darley and Summerbridge Primary School Federation also joined. As a MAT, we believe in the principles of collaborative practice in the school-led system as the most effective way to raise achievement and foster life-long learning for children and adults.

We would like to welcome you to Leyburn Primary School’s website. We work hard to provide a stimulating learning environment for the children of the local community. We hope that all of the pupils will feel valued, happy, safe and secure during their time at this school, while they work hard to realise their full potential and feel more than ready to move on to secondary school.
We hope that you find this website useful but if you would like any more information, have any questions or would like to look around the school, please contact the school office on 01969 623187.
Yours sincerely,
